Monday Cuppa Moment 2/2

Good morning, friends! I can't believe it's February. Here's a little cuppa inspiration for your Monday.

Yesterday at church our youth pastor shared a story about a man he met. The short synopsis of the story is that the man had once been homeless and now he owned an art gallery where he was the artist in residence. The really cool thing was hearing how the man started everyday saying 'Today I will stay out of my way and follow Jesus.'

I took that to heart. I'm very often guilty of getting in my own way. And why? Jesus makes it so easy. He instructs us how to live our lives, and even more importantly how to rely on Him. In Scripture our gracious Lord says:

  • Do not worry. I've got this:

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?"  Matthew 6:25-27

  • Seek God first and foremost:

"But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." Matthew 6:33

  • True rest is found in Me:

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30

  • Spend your life glorifying God:

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." Matthew 5:14-16

  • Treat others how you want to be treated:

“So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.” Matthew 7:12

Pretty straight forward instructions. Praying I get out of my own way and follow Jesus today.

Which Bible verses especially speak to your heart?
