SUMMER SPLASH ADVENTURE
Exciting news, readers! I’m joining fellow author Amanda Dykes to celebrate the release of her debut novel, Whose Waves These Are, and my upcoming novel, The Killing Tide. Since both of our new releases feature lighthouses and coastal settings, we decided to give readers a fun challenge. Ready for the rules? There are two ways you can enter this contest.
Option One:
Lighthouse Selfie Challenge
We’ve chosen a dozen lighthouses around the country, including two that inspired our stories, as destination points for our contest. You can find the full list here, along with travel information and links to the lighthouses’ websites.
LIGHTHOUSES ALREADY CLAIMED:
Split Rock Lighthouse
West Quoddy Lighthouse
Holland Harbor “Big Red” Lighthouse
Sheffield Island Lighthouse
The Biloxi Lighthouse
Point Fermin Lighthouse
Cape Canaveral Lighthouse
What’s your part in all this? The first person to send in a picture of themself with one of the lighthouses on the list will receive a copy of Whose Waves These Are and The Killing Tide. It must be a current picture . . . not from a trip you went on before this contest started! Submit your photo by emailing it to our publicist, Amy, at agreen@bethanyhouse.com with the subject line “Summer Splash Adventure.” She’ll respond to confirm if you’re the first person to that lighthouse and pass the picture on to us to share on social media along with your first name. You may only submit one winning selfie, but feel free to visit as many of these amazing lighthouses as you like.
We’ll update this page and our author Facebook pages with the lighthouses that already have a winner, so be watching! You’ll also get to see the fun selfies from the winners on our Facebook pages.
The contest ends on August 20 even if all the lighthouses haven’t been found, so be sure to submit your pictures before then! If you’re going on a road trip this summer, consider adding one of these lighthouses to your travel plans. Remember, though, that only the first person to each lighthouse will receive a prize.
Option Two:
Inlander’s Challenge
If you aren’t near one of the lighthouses above or aren’t able to travel, but would still like to join in the fun, here’s another way to participate.
Take a picture of yourself with a body of water of some kind—anything from a river in a state park to the birdbath in your backyard. The only requirement is that you and some source of water must be in the picture. Submit your photo by emailing it to our publicist, Amy, at agreen@bethanyhouse.com with the subject line “Inlander’s Challenge,” with the understanding that Amanda and I will be sharing it on social media along with your first name. Please send in your pictures by August 20—no entries after that point will be included. Only one picture per person, please!
On August 22, once we have all the entries, we’ll create an album on Amanda’s Facebook page where readers can vote on their favorite pictures.
Three winners will receive a copy of Whose Waves These Are and The Killing Tide: the picture with the most votes and two Author’s Choice winners, one from Amanda and one from me. The voting will end of August 29, when the winners will be announced.
For our international readers:
All winners must be from the US to receive a print book, but if we have an international winner, we’ll substitute a $20 gift card to a retailer of your choice, so we’d love for you to participate too!
Still have questions?
